The origin of ship flanges and ship flat welding flanges

The origin of the product name 'marine flange' is closely related to its intended use. Marine flanges are flanges used on ships to connect pipes to each other. Marine flanges are classified according to standards: national standard, non-standard, international standard: German standard, Japanese standard, American standard, British standard flat welding flange; Divided by process: ship flat welding flange, ship butt welding flange.

Marine flat welding flanges are flanges that are welded by inserting pipes into the inner ring of the flange. Flat welding flanges are divided into two types: neck flat welding flanges and plate lap welding flanges. The advantages of flat welding flanges for ships are simple manufacturing and low production costs, but they are not resistant to high temperatures and pressures. They are mainly used for normal temperature pipelines with pressures below 2.5 MPa and are widely used in ships.

Marine butt welding flange, also known as high neck flange, refers to a flange with a neck that has a circular pipe transition and is welded to the pipe. Marine loose flanges, also known as loose flanges, are generally made of high cost materials for pipelines. In order to reduce costs, internal fittings made of the same material as the pipeline and flange combinations made of different materials are used. They are a type of pipe fitting that uses flanges, steel rings, etc. to fit the flange onto the pipe end, allowing the flange to move on the pipe end.

Marine butt welded flanges have high rigidity and are not easily deformed, with good sealing. They are widely used and suitable for situations with high pressure and temperature. The nominal pressure PN is around 16MPa. Mainly used for compressed air piping systems and carbon dioxide piping systems. Marine hydraulic flanges have a very high pressure in their hydraulic piping system, so special socket type high-pressure square flanges are used. The flange thickness varies from 30mm to 45mm depending on the pipe diameter. This type of flange generally uses a connection method of a concave flange and a convex flange, with an O-ring as the sealing material.
