The Manufacturing Process of Stainless Steel Flanges: Precision Engineering for Industrial Reliability

Main Description: Discover how high-quality stainless steel flanges are made, from raw material selection to final inspection. Learn about ASME-certified processes ensuring leak-proof performance in critical applications.

As a leading stainless steel flange manufacturer, we adhere to rigorous international standards to deliver flanges that withstand extreme pressures and corrosive environments. Here’s an inside look at our production process:

1. Material Selection & Certification

Grades Used: 304/316L, Duplex 2205/2507, Super Duplex, and Nickel Alloys

Quality Control: EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates with PMI (Positive Material Identification) to verify Cr, Ni, Mo content.

2. Cutting & Forging

Plasma/Laser Cutting: CNC-guided systems cut raw plates/billets to precise dimensions (tolerance ±1mm).

Hot Forging: Heated to 1,200°C and pressed into near-net shapes, enhancing grain structure for ≥550 MPa yield strength.

3. Machining

CNC Lathe Work: Achieves Ra ≤3.2μm sealing surfaces and bolt hole alignment within 0.05mm deviation.

Drilling: Bolt circles machined per ASME B16.5 specs (e.g., 16x23mm holes for DN300 flanges).

4. Heat Treatment

Solution Annealing: Heated to 1,050°C and water-quenched to restore corrosion resistance.

Stress Relieving: Eliminates machining-induced stresses for dimensional stability.

5. Surface Finishing

Electropolishing: For hygienic applications (Ra ≤0.8μm).

Pickling & Passivation: Removes iron contaminants and enhances chromium oxide layer.

6. Quality Assurance

100% Dimensional Checks: Laser scanners verify OD, thickness, and bolt patterns.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):

Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) for surface cracks.

Radiographic Testing (RT) on weld necks (for welded flanges).

Pressure Testing: Hydrostatic tested at 1.5x rated pressure (per API 598).

7. Certification & Packaging

Documentation: ASME B16.5, PED 2014/68/EU, and NACE MR0175 compliance certificates.

Export-Ready: VCI anti-rust packaging with wooden crates for overseas shipping.

Why Our Process Matters

Leak Prevention: Precision-machined surfaces ensure perfect gasket seating.

Longevity: Double the service life of uncertified flanges in chloride-rich environments.

Customization: 72-hour turnaround for non-standard sizes (e.g., 64” flanges for desalination plants).Explore Our Capabilities: Stainless Steel Flange Manufacturing Process
