SN Valve is a leading China threaded fitting manufacturer. Threaded stainless steel pipe fittings resist corrosion from caustic chemicals, corrosive fluids, oils, and gases, and withstand pressure and high temperatures in plumbing applications and food and dairy processing. Threaded pipe fittings are threaded on both connection ends. Female threads are on the inside of a fitting. Male threads are on the outside of a fitting and screw into the female threads. NPT (American National Standard Pipe Threads) and BSPT (British Standard Pipe Threads) threads are distinguishable by their thread taper angle. There are also straight (NPS) pipe thread fittings and metric (M) pipe fittings. Metric pipe fittings are identified by the nominal outside diameter and the thread pitch. These connections do not require glue or adhesive, but PTFE tape keeps seal tight. Threaded fittings come in a variety of sizes and shapes.
Definition and use
Threaded fittings are commonly used connecting elements in piping systems, which realize a firm connection between pipes or piping accessories through the close fit of internal and external threads. Threaded fittings are widely used in a variety of low-pressure, non-critical fluid transmission systems, such as domestic water, fire fighting, industrial cooling water, and so on.
Types and Shapes
Threaded fittings come in a variety of shapes and types, including but not limited to:
●Elbows: used to change the direction of piping, common angles are 45°, 90° and 180°.
●Tees: used to branch out from the main pipe to another pipe, there are equal and reducer tees.
●Tee: similar to tee, but can branch out from the main pipe to two pipes.
●Pipe cap (end cap): used to close the end of the pipe.
●Plugs: including square-head plugs, hexagonal-head plugs and round-head plugs, etc., used to seal the threaded ends of pipes or fittings.
Materials and Manufacturing
Threaded fittings are usually made from materials such as gray cast iron, malleable cast iron, stainless steel, brass, bronze, forged alloys and carbon steel. These materials have good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance to meet the needs of different piping systems.
The manufacturing process of threaded fittings includes steps such as forging, casting and thread machining. Among them, forging and casting are the main manufacturing processes, which can produce threaded fittings with complex shapes and precise dimensions. Thread machining is to machine internal and external threads on the fittings by turning, milling or grinding.
Connection and sealing
Threaded fittings make connections between pipes or pipe accessories by means of threaded connections. During the connection process, a sealing material (e.g. Teflon tape or sealant) is used to ensure a tight connection. Correct installation and tightening torque are essential to ensure a tight threaded connection.
